Banksia hookeriana × prionotes
.
Family: Proteaceae (Protea)
Life form: Evergreen tree
Comments: These plants have been grown from seed collected off a naturally occurring hybrid and it will be interesting to see how each seedling develops. It is possible that the seedlings will continue to display hybrid characteristics, or that some seedlings will favour one parent over the other. Both parents of this hybrid grow in deep sand in the south-west of Western Australia on deep sand. The Waite Agricultural Research Institute of the University of Adelaide released a cultivar called Banksia ‘Waite Orange’ with the same parentage some years ago.
